Course Overview
Course Description:
This course presents a systematic study of Mādhurya-kādambinī by Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura, a foundational text that delineates the progressive development of bhakti in a precise and structured manner.
Following the teachings of Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī, the text explains the sequential unfolding of devotion through the stages of:
śraddhā, sādhu-saṅga, bhajana-kriyā, anartha-nivṛtti, niṣṭhā, ruci, āsakti, bhāva, and prema
The course examines:
The intrinsic and independent nature of bhakti
The role of mercy in the awakening of devotion
The limitations of karma, jñāna, and yoga without bhakti
The various obstacles (anarthas and aparādhas) that arise in practice
The gradual purification of the heart
The symptoms and transformations at each stage
The culmination of bhakti in prema
The structure of the course follows the eight “showers of nectar” presented in the text, offering a faithful and systematic understanding of the inner journey of a sādhaka.
